When talking with people who cross stitch on a regular basis, most will tell you that the best light for this type of craft is natural sunlight, but as we all know, that is not always possible. Many times, people only have time to cross stitch during the evening and night hours, which leaves them with darker natural conditions, which in turn brings up the topic of proper lighting for cross stitching. Finding the right light to cross stitch is half the battle. For those who work with darker fabrics, there is a light that helps illuminate the fabric for easier work conditions. This light is called the daylight needlework uplight and it lays on your lap. The light is bright enough to radiate through the material, which works great for cross stitching.
There are many different types of lighting that are available for doing crafts. If you do not want to spend a lot of money on a new lamp for doing cross stitching or other crafts, you may want to first try to replace your old light bulbs with a daylight fluorescent bulb. This is a great way to improve the light conditions in any room of the house.
For those who are serious crafters and want to invest in a new lighting system, you may want to consider purchasing what is called a "Mighty Bright" light. There are several different options available at this light's website. You will find a LED floor light that has a magnifier on the end of a flexible arm; this works especially well for those who need a little extra help threading a needle.
