Those who are avid campers will tell you that the only way to experience a true camping experience is to only cook over the camp fire. Depending on where you are camping, this may be the only choice that you have. There are some great ways to cook food over the campfire. For those who plan on cooking this way, don't forget to bring along campfire sticks and aluminum foil, they will become your best friend. Hot dogs are a favorite for many campers since they are easy to put on a stick and roast over the fire. Another way to cook hot dogs is to wrap them in foil and place them into the fire until cooked to your liking. Potatoes and vegetables are also easy to cook while camping. One of the easiest ways to cook these foods is to also wrap them in foil and then place into the fire. You can also place a metal grill over the campfire and place the foods right on the rack. For those of you who plan on using electricity while camping, you may want to take your electric skillet, slow cooker or portable single electric burner along for the trip. All of these items will allow you to make most of the same meals you have at home while on the road. One last thing that many campsites offer are charcoal grills, all you will need to bring is the charcoal and utensils for cooking.
