When cross stitching, there are several needles that can be used. One of the first things you do when deciding which needle you are going to use is check out the size of thread you are using and the material you are cross stitching on. Curved needles make stitching with plastic canvas and perforated paper a much more doable task. When your deciding what needle to use in your cross stitching project, remember that the smaller the number, the larger the needle size.
Some of the needles used for cross stitching are the tweens tapestry needles. Tweens size are between regular tapestry needle sizes; tween needle are sizes 18 to 26. Tweens are useful for projects where the tapestry is too small or too large for regular size tapestry cross stitching needles. There is also the gold petite tapestry needles. These gold petite tapestry cross stitching needles have two features preferred by stitchers: Gold coating and shorter length. These needles sizes run from 28 up to 22. Embroidery needles are used for a lot of cross stitching. It is very easy to tell the tapestry needles from the embroidery needles; the embroidery needle is thinner and has a sharper tip and the eye of the needle is smaller than the tapestry needle. The needles that have been listed here are only a few of the many needles used for cross stitching.
