Thomas Perryis an author of many novels. One of the most popular was about Jane Whitfield. Between 1995 and 1999 he wrote a series of five novels about a her. The books were consecutive and occurred in something close to real time, with each of her adventures occurring about a year apart. After each incident, Jane aged a year and reappeared in the next volume knowing the things that she had learned in the previous volume. The series required that Perry have the next manuscript ready on each succeeding June 15.The Jane Whitfield is a series about a Native-American guide, but not a guide in the traditional manner. Jane guides people who are in the process of being hunted or threatened out of their danger and into a new place, where she then helps them "disappear" and start whole new lives without the worry of the threat. She is a blue eyed, black haired half-Seneca who tends to have violence and action follow very closely behind her. Her code includes never hurting an innocent, but it also includes taking down the bad guys before they take down her or her charge. She is therefore a deadly force when she needs
to be and quick thinking in her problem resolution. All of her story lines circle around saving and guiding someone away from danger. In each novel she deals with different challenges, threats and aviolence and leaves her share of bodies around.
Thomas Perry has brought Jane Whitfield back after a nine year absence. She is married and bit older, but she is the same Jane.
