DECORATING YOUR HOME WITH FAUX SILK PANELS

Faux Silk is  "False Silk" and is usually a synthetic, such as polyester, or cellulose fiber such as viscose/rayon. Mercerized cotton is also used as a silk look-alike. Also called art silk, faux silk is usually used as small accents or in a short, dense pile constructions.  Artificial silk made from synthetic fibers like polyester or natural fibers including mercerized cotton.

When decorating your home with faux silk panels allows free flowing light and a touch of elegance.  You can combine different colors on one rod, you can drape them over a rod or you can display a beautiful hand painted silk panes on a wall.  If you have a small bathroom with an open bottom sink, you can create a silky flowing skirt around it.

There is not a lot of privacy with silk panels, but this is no problem.  Simply place a  bind or shade behind the panel to be drawn or closed at night.  You can also combine a lot of panels on one rod to make the panels thicker. This would also keep out the light. The silk panels will still flow freelyand can be colorful, but look a little stuffed at the top.
The hand painted silk panels come in different sizes and can be used for screens, draped over chair backs, or on a night stand.
When planning to redecorate and want a warm, elegant feeling in your home, faux silk panels would be the way to go.  Decide the color or colors you want and measure the window or area you wish to place the panel before shopping.  Faux Silk also comes in a Faffeta and embroidered fabric.
