WASHINGTON NATIONAL CATHEDRAL, WASHINGTON, D.C.

A visit to the Washington National Cathedral is worth the trip to Washington, DC.  Among the many things to see and do in Washington, DC, don’t miss this one. This part of the American history was conceived during George Washington’s administration in 1791, and signed into commission by President Benjamin Harrison in 1893.  The foundation stone was laid in the presence of President Theodore Roosevelt in 1907 and

Was open for services in 1912 under the presidency of William Howard Taft and the final finial installed in 1990 under President George H .W. Bush.  Services are held daily, and guided and self-guided tours are available year around.  On December 3, the “Angels Are Everywhere” tour will be held.

You will be Awe-inspiring the architecture and the service and music beautiful.  The moment you enter the sanctuary, your voice hushes and a feeling of reverence washes over you.   The Sculptures draw you in with their compelling gazes and the stained-glass windows are works of art.  Afterwards, walk the grounds and take in the breathtaking gardens and many sculptures, including Darth Vader.  On December 28th, the annual ceremonial laying of the wreath on President Wilson’s tomb will be held.

President Wilson is the only president buried in the cathedral, or in the District of Columbia for that matter.

Washington National Cathedral stands with amazing beauty and like most churches, visitors are always welcome.

We spent several days in Washington, DC and still did not see all the sites. It would take several trips for me to take it all in.  If you have not been believe me, you will not regret the trips and if found the tours are the best way to see most of things and then go on your own.
